Serious Safety concerns

Many may just know MANCI as the old scary looking building that the "Mansfield Reformatory Preseravation Society" is trying to maintain from futher deterioration, were a number of Movies have been made including Shawshank and Air Force One, but that was the old prison that people flock to because of its notarity of being haunted due to a number of tragic events.  This prison was extremely overcrowded and yes out dated but it was not closed until the 1980's and a new MANCI was born and yes it has developed its own problems just as the previous MANCI built between 1886 and 1910.

A licensed psychologist at the Mansfield Correctional Institution aka MANCI has filed a sexual harassment lawsuit alleging she was subjected to "unwelcome , severe and pervasive sexual harrasment by male inmates, fellow employees and supervisors."  As some in Mansfield might already know MANCI has just recently been in the news due to a current alarming discovery of homemade knives which in return sparked corrections officers picketing outside of MANCI on November 3rd 2009.

A spokesperson and the president of Ohio Civil Services and Employees Association Local 7010 stated that they just wanted the public to know about the security and problems they are having with the current administration with staffing being on of the issues he claims that they are running about 25 to 30 officers short.  There are 2,492 inmates housed at MANCI, including 405 inmates in the camps MANCI only employees 370 corrections officers.  This spokesman went on to say that there have been 43 assaults against officers during the last three to four months stateing "We just want a safe enviorenment where we can go home."  In Kunkle's suit she has claims of identical issues."

Kathleen G. Kunkle filled suit in the U.S Court for the Northern Distric of Ohio, alleging that she was discouraged from reporting sexual misconduct and safety issues, and that officials retaliated against her after she filed charges with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.  Her suit alleges male inmates, particularly those housed in special units, frequently expose their genitals to her, threaten to rape her, throw feces and urine at her and make sexually abusive and obscene comments.  She also alleges that the inmates threatened to kill her, stab her, rape her, spit on her, bust her face open, choke her and more according to lawsuit.  Her suit also alleges defendents retaliated after her EEOC complaint.  She claims at least one explicit threat of discharge from the warden, continuing intimadation, demotion of duties, an unwarranted performance evaluation, temporary administrative leave, and work changes that placed her at unnecessary risk of harm from violent inmates.  The suit includes as a defendant Gov. Ted Strickland.

It sounds to me that the adminastration at MANCI is almost as bad as the inmates that they house.  What do you think, do you think she has a case, and do you think they will finally do something about the safety issues at MANCI?
